Q&A

What was your first job? When I turned 15, I immediately started working at the Garden Center where my mom worked. It was a small, family-owned business. Interestingly, through working at that Garden Center, I got a second job working for a landscaper who did the landscaping for a handful of local subdivisions. When I was in college at a job fair, one of the subdivisions I had helped landscape was pictured at a Timmons Group table as one of the subdivisions they had designed and that is what made me stop and talk to them!

What’s your favorite sports team? I am a Hokie fan through and through! I went to Virginia Tech during some of the best Beamer Ball football years and still love watching VT football. I am also a Chicago fan of professional sports (Cubs, not White Sox) and I know what it means to be a fan through the good years and the bad.

If you were not a civil engineer, what would you be? My childhood dream was to be a figure skater. I remember watching Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan skate. I am convinced that if I had spent more time skating and less doing math and science homework, my Olympic dreams would have been realized. Probably.
