Chris Kiefer

Chris Kiefer specializes in transportation delivery and has nearly 40 years of experience in all aspects of transportation. He leads the Transportation Design Group, which focuses on roadway design, trail design, and traffic signal design, with personnel in Richmond, Raleigh, Greensboro, Ashburn, Charlottesville, and Washington, DC. As the firm’s primary transportation consultant to both public and private clients, he is an expert on DOT guidelines, policies, and procedures. Chris has significant experience in utility coordination, design-build projects, construction administration, and projects with a myriad of different funding sources.

Chris and his team have extensive experience in roundabout and alternative intersection design and have worked on a wide variety of projects in various settings (Interstate, Primary, Secondary, and Local) under different conditions (Coastal, Piedmont, and Mountainous) and in diverse, context-sensitive areas (Urban, Rural, and Suburban). Chris maintains strong professional relationships with municipal and state government agencies. He has also served as an expert witness in dozens of court cases involving complex transportation issues. Additionally, Chris is the Principal in Charge of the Timmons Group Right of Way acquisition team.

Chris lives in Midlothian with his wife and high school sweetheart, Roxann. They have four children—Charlie, Brich, Jack, and Caroline—along with two grandchildren, Chip and Blair.
