Timmons Group provided engineering services for the York Library Expansion and Renovation in York County, VA. It’s a 10,000 SF building expansion that displaces the existing parking lot on the highly visible George Washington Memorial Highway frontage. The project’s goal was to renovate outdated infrastructure and create new and improved public spaces, as well as improving accessibility. Timmons Group provided design service is for a new parking lot expansion accommodating 83 spaces including electric vehicle charging spaces. We designed dual dry pond detention facilities to meet the stormwater requirements and rerouted a drainage ditch that previously bisected the site. A new main entrance and outdoor reading garden were incorporated in this design that also reused donor bricks for plaza paving. Timmons Group also provided landscaping and site lighting design. Timmons Group’s additional services included surveying, geotechnical, environmental, and engineering field investigation services. Topographic survey extended to the limits of the property’s paved area and along adjacent roads. Features in the survey included visible physical improvements, surface utilities, storm and sanitary sewer systems. The team provided courthouse research regarding property boundaries and right of way limits.
