Overview
Timmons Group holds an annual services agreement with Henrico County Department of Public Works for stormwater management and drainage design. A recent project under this contract is the Tuckahoe Park Drainage Improvement project.
This project was designed to provide drainage relief for the neighborhood surrounding Mayland Drive in western Henrico County. Timmons Group mapped the historical drainage complaints to identify patterns, problems, and potential alternatives to construct a storm sewer system for the area. Extensive back yard utilities, fences, trees, and sheds limited the options to construct storm sewer between existing lots. A three-phase solution was proposed to convey flow to two independent outfalls. The project resulted in outfall improvements, two large trunk storm sewers to serve the neighborhood, and significant roadside ditch improvements. The design was communicated to the residents through two public meetings in order to facilitate easement acquisition.
