Overview
TB Smith Community Center is a newly constructed 30,000 sf building in Richmond’s Southside. Timmons Group participated in the community engagement process for the project which included several community meetings and feedback surveys which identified the needs of the local neighborhood. The community center boasts a large indoor gym, indoor and outdoor basketball, community kitchen, playground, splash pad, and a multipurpose field.
Additional amenities include a playground, splash pad, native grass meadows, and open space with extensive tree planting contributing to the park-like setting. A walking trail meanders along the northern edge of the site, linking the parking lot, sidewalks, and emergency access road in a seamless loop along the perimeter of the site. Together, these elements provide south Richmond with a vibrant community center, addressing a critical need for quality green space in the neighborhood.
