Overview
The Shirley T. Holland Commerce Park Utility Infrastructure Project consisted of water and wastewater infrastructure improvements to serve the commerce park and surrounding areas along Route 460 in Isle of Wight County. This design-build project was fast paced and required close coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, the Virginia Department of Health, the Hampton Roads Sanitation District and the Isle of Wight County Department of Public Utilities. The water improvements consisted of a 250,000 gallon, 140 foot spheroid-style elevated water storage tank and an economical booster pump station. Timmons Group worked closely with county officials to determine the future demands of the Central Development District for which the tank was intended to serve.
Project Highlights
The wastewater portion of the project featured a 160,000 gallon per day submersible pump station and 4” diameter force main, which were designed to collect the wastewater generated within the commerce park and convey it to the Hampton Roads Sanitation District collection system. The 250,000 gallon elevated storage tank, water booster station and wastewater pump station were all located on the same site and featured a remote monitoring system and architectural styling and landscaping to allow them to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment.
