Overview
Rockingham County Judicial Center is a new 184,516 SF three-story facility that provides support to the County’s courthouse, jail and law enforcement departments. Programmed to accommodate 359 employees and 300 inmates, the facility is also one of the first judicial centers in the state to achieve certification of a LEED Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED® Green Building Rating System.
Timmons Group provided design survey, design engineering, LEED documentation, landscape architecture, irrigation system design and construction administration services on this project. Approvals for permits were coordinated with NCDENR, NCDOT and Dan River Water. Additionally, a new Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was constructed just behind the Judicial Center. In order to accommodate the County’s construction schedule, Timmons Group was required to coordinate highly specialized fiber optic lines and utility connections serving the new EOC Building with the Judicial Center project to ensure that utility services were not interrupted at any time. The project bid amount was $1.3 million less than project budget.
