Overview
Timmons Group served as Prime Consultant for this formal State Construction project to construct a new 5-acre concrete helicopter landing and parking pads on a 12-acre site at the National Guard Joint Forces Headquarters in Raleigh, NC. Our services included civil/site design, topographic survey, subsurface utility locating, test pits exploration, environmental site investigations, and Aviation and electrical consultant coordination.
This pad was designed to serve high-profile federal and state users per FAA AC 150/5390-2C, “Heliport Design” and UFC 3-260-1, “Airfield and Heliport Planning and Design” standards utilizing State and Federal DoD funds. The design of this facility involved FAA clearance and setback requirements, UFC compliance, taxiway routing, pavement design and marking, helipad lighting, security fencing for DoD Antiterrorism Force Protection, State and Federal agency coordination, and right-of-way acquisition from the NCDOT.
