Overview
As Lynchburg College continues to increase enrollment, facilities and infrastructure must also grow in order to maintain its image as an academic institution of choice in the state of Virginia. Timmons Group worked with the College to master plan and design a new addition and associated civic space at Drysdale Student Center.
Working with challenging changes in grade and a goal of maximizing site accessibility, the Timmons Group team designed a series of stairways, ramps, and a multi-tiered plaza to create what is now a main gateway into the college. The plaza displays impressive fountains, timed splash jets, college seals in the pavement, brick seat walls, fully accessible study terraces, and lush landscaping to complement the existing buildings and architectural renovations. Students, faculty, and visitors will find this plaza an enticing gathering place and landmark on the Lynchburg College campus.
