Overview
Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, Friendship Court is an affordable housing community that is undergoing a multi-phase redevelopment that will add 450 apartment units to the community. The need for redevelopment grew out of several factors, including a shortage of affordable housing in the Charlottesville region and a motion to prioritize better housing options for the community.
In addition to the newly designed mix of residential units, the development will feature a community resource center, health clinic, creative recreational facilities, and a public water feature, which makes use of an existing stream on site.
Timmons Group is working with Piedmont Housing Alliance (PHA) to provide site and civil engineering, transportation, stormwater design, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental assessments, and geotechnical engineering services for the new multi-phase 450-unit income-tiered community. Timmons Group’s teams have been involved in the project since the original master planning efforts began in 2016.
Timmons Group also assisted PHA in facilitating the community engagement and outreach process for portions of the project, and teams now have a successful vision for the project that emphasizes community identity.
