Overview
Isle of Wight County Public Schools decided to replace the existing Hardy Elementary School with a new school constructed on an adjacent site. To provide enhanced water service and fire protection for the new school, the County constructed a 500,000-gallon spheroid-style elevated tank on the new school site. Timmons Group provided engineering design, drafting, regulatory review and approval, bid and award assistance, and construction administration services for the project. The project included a 500,000-gallon spheroid-style tank featuring an active tank mixer to maintain water quality, a pile foundation, and a SCADA system. The tank was filled via the Old Stage Road Waterline and Booster Pump Station, with water supplied by the Town of Smithfield. The project was permitted by the County, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
