Overview
The Town of Holly Springs has entrusted Timmons Group with the design of the expansive Friendship Off-site Utilities Extension project, delivered via a Design-Build approach. The project scope includes approximately 14,000 linear feet of 12-inch reclaimed water main, 14,000 linear feet of 24-inch potable water main, a 3.6 MGD pump station, and about 28,000 linear feet of 16-inch/20-inch force main. Sharing a common NCDOT Right-of-Way, the pipeline design required meticulous planning to avoid existing utilities.
The pump station is designed for easy expansion, ensuring the Town’s capacity needs are met as the service area continues to grow. Timmons Group provided comprehensive services, including design of the pump station and linear infrastructure, surveys, geotechnical analysis, Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), and managed all permitting processes, such as jurisdictional waters delineation and 401/404 permitting.
During the early design phase, route adjustments necessitated swift reevaluation and delineation area modifications by our permitting team. Additionally, Timmons Group developed the Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan for the project’s segment within the NCDOT right-of-way. The expedited 18-month project remains on schedule, with construction anticipated to be complete in May 2023.
