Overview
Timmons Group provided civil engineering services along with sustainable LEED® consulting for the design and development of a new two-bay fire station located on a 1.75 acre site for the Town of Carrboro. The site grading worked around existing specimen Holly and Pecan Trees and the trees the trees that were harvested were subsequently used to build a table for the breakroom and benches for the firemen. Additional sustainable site features included the design of two bio retention cells and a cistern system to capture stormwater and reuse as gray water within the facility. Approvals and permitting for the project were attained from a number of regulatory agencies including DENR, Town of Carrboro, and OWASA.
