Overview
Timmons Group provided all engineering and surveying services for the site development plan and public road extension. Surveying tasks consisted of boundary, topography and several ALTA/ACSM surveys. The study phase included the delineation of wetlands (by the sub consultant) and performing computations to establish the 100-year floodplain (HEC-RAS analysis). Since the Selnick Road right-of-way is owned by the State Highway Administration (SHA) the road, storm drain, stormwater management and utility design was reviewed by both Howard County and SHA. There are several Continental Gas Transmission Pipelines which cross the Selnick Road right-of-way. One of the pipes was buried shallower than the others which required a vertical adjustment to maintain minimum cover to accommodate the road. The storm drain and utilities were specifically designed to avoid impacts to these pipelines.
The site design included coordination with the Department of Recreation and Parks to establish walking paths in the floodplain zone, additional stormwater management facilities, landscaping, forest conservation, storm drainage, water and sewer mains, grading, sediment control, coordination of retaining walls and environmental permits and preparation and processing of the SHA access and utility permits. Timmons Group processed MDE Notice of Intent permit, grading permits, and assisted in the processing of the Wetland/Waterways permit.
