Overview
The Altria Corporate Headquarters facility opened in 1958 as one of Richmond’s premier corporate buildings (Reynolds Metal Headquarters). The headquarters site was designed by prominent landscape architect, Charles Gillette, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2000.
Our contributions on the Corporate campus of Altria have spanned over a decade, modernizing the original 1950’s site layout while respecting the historical nature of the landscape. Out latest and most influential effort is currently the addition of a brand new, modern building on campus that will change the viewshed forever. Our design has carefully weaved in the next generation of paving and planting while linking the new building to campus in a way that one may never come to realize the newness of the structure.
Timmons Group continues to collaborate on specific projects at the Headquarters site including preserving viewsheds, increased safety and security, long term maintenance challenges, and new plant installations. Modernization of corporate campuses like Altria can be successfully accomplished by understanding the past and respecting the history to plan a future vision.
