Overview
Bow Tie Partners’ Movieland is the City of Richmond’s only multiplex theatre. The theatre was developed on the 11.5 acre site of the old Richmond Steel facility at Leigh Street and the Boulevard.
The movie theater as well as planned restaurant and retail are contained within existing historic buildings and the site was designed around a length of historic railroad track. New parking, hardscape and landscape were designed within the constraints of the existing site, railroad tracks and building elevations. Timmons Group used its knowledge of the ADA technical design guidelines to engineer over 750 new parking spaces including 16 ADA compliant handicap spaces and over 1,700 linear feet of new ADA accessible routes.
On April 21, 2010, Movieland received the Greater Richmond Association for Commercial Real Estate (GRACRE) Ninth Annual Real Estate Metro Richmond 2010 Project of the Year at the 2010 Awards Gala.
