Powhatan Elevated Tank: From Start to Finish

Don’t you just love when a good plan comes together?

During the design development of the new Transportation Maintenance Facility and the newly renovated Powhatan Middle School, a need for more fire protection was identified. Timmons Group presented the County with several options and the decision to build a new tank was made.

Tank is now online and is providing fire protection.

Initially, the 500,000 gallon waterspheroid style elevated tank is only intended to provide fire protection, but is designed to be converted to both domestic and fire service in the future as the County’s water system is expanded to the Courthouse Area.

This vital project was not without its set of challenges. It is located on a small site with many adjacent businesses such as Elizabeth Randolph Lewis YMCA, as well as the brand new Transportation Maintenance Facility. Timmons Group provided design and construction administration for the new elevated tank, Transportation Maintenance Facility and the newly renovated Powhatan Middle School projects.
