The Angelo Solar project in Tom Green County, Texas, is helping to bring more renewable energy to the region. Covering almost 1,200 acres, Angelo Solar is designed to generate enough energy to power up to 50,300 Texas homes annually.
One of the key benefits of this development is its use of existing high-voltage power lines, which reduces the need for additional infrastructure. The solar panels are also designed with a low profile, making them less visible from nearby roads and homes.
Timmons Group’s Dallas survey team supported this project from start to finish by providing comprehensive surveying services from the initial ALTA/NSPS Land Title Survey in early 2020 through the final as-built survey in late 2024.
A significant part of this effort included an aerial survey completed by our survey remote sensing team in August 2024. Using a Freefly Systems Astro drone, our crew covered 324,965 linear feet, or 61.5 miles, capturing 3,096 high-resolution images in a single day. The data was processed quickly, allowing us to deliver the final survey to the client within about a week.
Projects like Angelo Solar highlight how surveying plays a key role in the development of renewable energy infrastructure. As these projects continue to grow, Timmons Group is committed to providing efficient and accurate surveying solutions that support sustainable energy development.
