In 2021 Timmons Group announced a five-year partnership with Feed More, Central Virginia’s core hunger-relief organization. Throughout our partnership, it’s been our goal to take impactful action to initiate, transform, and sustain our hometown communities’ access to food security.
As a member of the nationally recognized Feeding America and Meals on Wheels networks, Feed More is a vast and interconnected operation located in Richmond, Virginia. With nearly 100 employees, more than 250 agencies, and over 200 volunteers daily, Feed More is a well-oiled machine dedicated to its mission. The organization’s fleet of over 20 trucks and a 36,000 SF storage facility enable the delivery of more than 42 million pounds of grocery products through the Food Bank Distribution Network and Pauley Family Cooler to neighbors in need.
According to Feed More, 1 in 9 Central Virginians (and 1 in 6 children) struggle with food insecurity, an issue that has been escalated by inflation of 15% compared to this time last year. This means that Feed More and our communities have a heightened responsibility to act for our neighbors who face hunger.
Since the announcement nearly three years ago, our partnership with Feed More has become an active part of our company culture. The Bayard Community Kitchen staff know our volunteers by name, our teammates have the opportunity to connect over Meals for Wheels deliveries, and we have successfully collaborated on providing over 5,500 meals to our neighbors.
Inspired by the organization’s mission, Timmons Group’s Taylor Dalton, an HR coordinator in the Richmond office, has become an integral part of Feed More’s daily efforts. “I am so grateful to be a part of a team that takes pride in rolling up our sleeves, getting involved, and genuinely wanting to make a difference in the community. It’s not just about giving back—it’s about forging connections, creating smiles, and leaving a lasting impact,” Taylor said.
From coordinating meal drop offs to scheduling employees for time spent in the kitchen, Taylor’s investment in Feed More’s core objectives is obvious.
Taylor also notes that she’s looking forward to engaging with Feed More’s employees once they’re settled into their newest venture: A custom built 124,000 SF complex that will serve as their new operations facility and headquarters.
Located on Rhoadmiller Street near The Diamond District in Richmond, Virginia, Feed More’s current complex and home for the past 20 years makes use of 90,000 SF. Feed More CEO Doug Pick announced in March this year that its facilities and headquarters would be moving to accommodate for future growth—a testament to the nonprofit’s commitment to efficiency in alleviating hunger.
The state-of-the-art facility in Henrico County, expected to be completed in fall 2024, will not only expand the organization’s operational capabilities but also provide a centralized hub for strategizing and executing their mission. The increased freezer capacity, modern amenities, and strategic location will enhance Feed More’s ability to store and distribute even larger quantities of food, furthering their reach and impact across Central Virginia.
Through these shared efforts, the goal is clear: to make a tangible and long-lasting impact on the communities we call home. Timmons Group President and CEO Brian Bortell said it well: “We believe that every person deserves access to a healthy meal, and through this partnership, we aim to contribute to the fight against hunger in Central Virginia.”
Between now and December 1, Feed More is inviting individuals and organizations to double their fiscal donation through a match program. You can read more about the match program and donate here. Timmons Group is a proud partner with Feed More and their efforts to end food insecurity.
