Raleigh, NC – October 5, 2023 – Timmons Group is proud to welcome Kelly Bowers to serve the firm’s Economic Development Practice in North Carolina and adjacent regions in the role of Economic Development Specialist.
Kelly’s expertise is in small business, real estate revitalization, construction, finance, and economic development, which she’ll apply in her new role at Timmons Group for North Carolina. She currently serves as a board member for the Tri-County Aviation Authority, NCDOT Peanut Belt Rural Planning Organization, and Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy Advisory Committee for the Mid-East Commission.
A future North Carolina certified Economic Developer, Kelly previously focused her efforts in attracting and attaining new businesses as the Director of Economic Development for Herford County, where she supported small businesses and economic growth with an emphasis on green spaces and agricultural stimulation. In her previous role, Kelly demonstrated infrastructure growth throughout the County by developing master plans, strategic action plans, and infrastructure improvement programs for highways, utilities, and broadband.
Originally from Suffolk, Virginia, Kelly graduated from Christopher Newport University with a B.S. in Business Administration, later earning a certificate in Economic Development from UNC Chapel Hill and a certificate in Expanding Incidents from the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management. Kelly is in the process of attaining several other certificates, including recognition as a Certified International Economic Development Planner.

Kelly resides in Perquimans County and spends time outside of work advocating for rural community development.
