Timmons Group encourages its employees to engage with their local communities by offering up to eight hours of paid time to volunteer with nonprofit organizations. Timmons Group’s local staff worked together in several volunteer capacities this year, including with the Anacostia Watershed Society, Second Story’s Culmore Teen Center, and various hunger relief efforts.
The Timmons Group team recently collaborated with the Anacostia Watershed Society, whose mission is to protect and restore the Anacostia River. Timmons Group staff recorded and monitored registration to mitigate invasive species during the first phase of the project. Native vegetation will then be placed by the group to filter stormwater from various properties along the river in the project’s future phases.
In August, Timmons Group employees participated with 100 volunteers from 34 industry companies that assembled and delivered 5,535 Snack Packs to Second Story’s Culmore Teen Center for their Summer Snack Pack project. The purpose of the project is to provide meals and snacks to local children. Second Story is a DC-based organization that provides counseling, shelter, and neighborhood-based support services for children, youth, and families.
Each December, Timmons Group staff collect and donate nonperishable foods to help ease the stress that the pandemic has placed on local hunger relief organizations, including Loudon Hunger Relief. Loudoun Hunger Relief’s mission is to support a community where everyone has access to sufficient, nutritious food.
Timmons Group is grateful for the opportunity to help empower our local communities!
