Community Matters Café, located off West 1st Street in uptown Charlotte, celebrated its grand opening in April of 2019. As an extension program of the Charlotte Rescue Mission, the café will engage the community and help provide recovery services to men and women who struggle with substance abuse and homelessness.

With a mission to transform lives in Charlotte, the full-service restaurant and coffee shop offers house blend coffee, fresh breakfast or lunch to members of the community, as well as a hosting space for business meetings or events. Students in the Community Matters Café Life Skills Program will be employed at the café where they will learn essential life skills needed to thrive in the community.

Timmons Group collaborated with LS3P on providing building and site improvements to the existing 100-year-old facility on Charlotte Rescue Mission’s campus. Improvements included parking, storm drainage, and utility services.

In 2017, Community Matters: Insurance Partners of Charlotte, a volunteer-driven nonprofit that provides unique philanthropic opportunities, chose Charlotte Rescue Mission as their nonprofit partner of the year. Their vision to leave a lasting mark on the Queen City community became a reality with the now renovated 100-year-old building on Charlotte Rescue Mission’s campus that exists to restore hope to those struggling with substance abuse.
