Meet the Team : Brian Crutchfield, PE, PLS

This Monday, we’re getting to know Brian Crutchfield, PE, PLS, Group Leader of our Public Land Development group in Charlotte and manager of engineering operations for Timmons Group’s North Carolina offices. Brian is a Hokie grad, a golf fanatic, and a North Carolina BBQ connoisseur.

A Little History:

Brian joined Timmons Group in 2000, but relocated to North Carolina in 2008 to manage our new Charlotte office. Since then, he has been a pioneer in the growth and success of our North Carolina offices, overseeing operations of the Greensboro and Raleigh offices in addition to Charlotte. If you live or work in North Carolina, you probably know Brian or are familiar with his projects. He has worked on an array of land development projects including site plans, residential subdivisions, campus master plans, utility infrastructure projects, and feasibility studies for both public and private clients. Brian’s site design experience includes shopping centers, industrial buildings, public schools, hotels, assisted living facilities, financial institutions and multi-family developments. Brian is also managing the firm’s wireless tower facility design projects. A few notable projects that he has played a key role in over the years are Burkert Fluid Control Systems (Huntersville, NC), TTi Warehouse and Manufacturing Facility (Anderson County, SC), Tanger Outlet Center (Mebane, NC) and UNC Charlotte Sycamore Hall Renovation (Charlotte, NC).

Brian’s Favorite Project:

Since joining Timmons Group, Brian’s favorite project to date is The Renaissance housing redevelopment project in Charlotte. The Renaissance is a public housing community owned by the Charlotte Housing Authority (CHA) that offers a holistic approach to community change by providing recreational opportunities, a charter school and connectivity to surrounding city public transit options and amenities. CHA replaced what was once a 300-housing unit with 224 mixed-income family units onsite, 110 unit apartments for seniors, a charter school, an early childhood development center, a community center, job training, and youth and adult development programs. The project received LEED ND Certification in 2017.
