Our approach to sustainable design focuses on protecting the existing ecosystem, and restoring degraded areas, to the maximum extent possible within the context of the typical development process- often at little or no additional cost to the project. Many sustainable design practices have been used for years, but the successful implementation of the full-range of today’s available measures often requires extensive experience. We understand that all decisions made regarding site layout and infrastructure must consider the potential impacts on the surrounding communities. Site plans are specifically designed to reflect sensitivity to biologically significant areas in order to minimize habitat disturbance and provide for ecological restoration as needed. Construction issues are managed by a staged approach to protect the natural resources of a given site. In keeping with our client’s vision, and our own sense of responsibility and awareness, we strive to integrate sustainable concepts at every phase of design and construction. Timmons Group’s in-house civil, environmental and geotechnical design engineers, landscape architects/land planners, construction specialists and horticulturalists are accustomed to working together to incorporate key components of sustainable design which are critical to the success of a project.
