Timmons Group’s Kelly Bowers Earns Prestigious North Carolina Certified Economic Developer Designation

Raleigh, NC — July 8, 2024 Timmons Group, an award-winning engineering, design, and technology firm, announced that Kelly Bowers has earned the North Carolina Certified Economic Developer (NCCED) designation. The achievement underscores Bowers’ exceptional expertise in economic development, which she will continue to leverage in her role at Timmons Group for North Carolina.

With fewer than 30 certified professionals across North Carolina, the NCCED designation involves a rigorous process where candidates must complete seven courses and a capstone project, totaling 84 contact hours, to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of complex economic principles, strategic planning, and practical implementation. The certification is awarded to professionals who have proven their ability to drive economic growth, manage development initiatives, and foster sustainable communities.

“Earning the NCCED designation is a tremendous honor and a significant milestone in my career,” said Bowers. “I look forward to applying this experience in support of Timmons Group’s mission and contributing to the vibrant communities we serve.”

Bowers joined Timmons Group as an economic development manager in 2023. Her new certification will enhance Timmons Group’s public and private development pursuits with the overarching goal of bringing economic excellence to the State of North Carolina. With economic development efforts spanning sectors such as pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, electric vehicle infrastructure, and biomanufacturing, Bowers’ expertise will support long-standing relationships with North Carolinian clients and the public, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to fostering sustainable growth and development throughout the region.

“We are incredibly proud of Kelly Bowers and the dedicated work she put into earning the NCCED certification,” said Joe Hines, Sr. Principal and Director of Economic Development. “Kelly has proven to be an asset for economic development across the entire state and continues to position herself as an industry leader in the region through her impactful work and many accomplishments.”

Of the less than 30 individuals to have earned the NCCED designation across the state, Bowers sets herself apart as the only economic developer to represent a private consulting engineering firm.
